happy easter!

we continued our travels this weekend
with a quick weekend in wisconsin

the boys got to spend time with their cousins
aiden and owen

yes ... i know
you are impressed with the fine easter clothes my kids are dressed in -
just be glad they all had shirts on.
they spent the majority of the weekend
with them off.

we also got to meet their newest cousin
finley

he is hannah and bobby's newest addition
and he is adorable!!

the easter bunny spoiled him
and of course
he spoiled the boys as well

i'm thinking we probably have enough sugar to get us through until halloween

or at least bedtime ;)

it was a snowy day in wisconsin
yes ... seriously ... snow on easter
BUT
we had a fun day

and when we did get home
our yard was starting to clear and we could see some grass.
so there is hope.

HAPPY EASTER, EVERYONE!!

hollywood studios

hollywood studios is another park that we visited many times

the theming is so fun at this park.
there is a lot to look at

there are a lot of fun street performers
and
there are a lot of fun places to just wander and take in the magic

not to mention that hollywood studios
is home to a few of our
all time favorite disney rides!

star tours is a 3D simulation ride based on the star wars movies
of course it is one of the boys favorites

we rode it MANY times
as there are at least 50 different ride scenarios
and
you never know what your ride will be like

another ride that we rode as many times as we could
and also took full advantage of fastpass
was rockin roller coaster

i am SO glad that ben got brave enough to give this ride a try
because it is my favorite roller coaster
E.V.E.R

how can you not fall in love with a roller coaster that shoots you out of the start
and hits 60mph in less than 2 seconds
WHILE pumping aerosmith through your ears
right?!

rockin roller coaster and tower of terror
are 2 of drew's favorite rides
so naturally ...
hollywood studios is where he wanted to be on his birthday

it even worked out perfectly
that at 12:12 am
drew and i were riding tower of terror
to kick off his 12th birthday!!

i'm not a huge fan of the ride
BUT
i rode it
and
i survived.
and it wasn't even as bad as i remember it;)
happy birthday drew.
we also did the backlot tour

we saw the special effects
that go into movie making at the indiana jones show

and at lights! motors! action!

even lightning mcqueen is in on the show these days!!

one of the nights that we were there
we saw some of those same effects demonstrated in fantasmic!
the show uses water and fireworks to put on a fight vs good and evil

and what a fight it is.
like every other disney fireworks show
it is absolute perfection.
the laser lights, the music, and the effects make the 30 minute show
a great ending to a fun day!!

PLUS ...
alex loves sorcerer mickey
so that made the show even more exciting ;)

good thing for him ...
sorcerer mickey is all over the park ;)

AND ...
good thing for him
we had quite a few days to explore
and have some fun!

each of the days we were there
we got on toy story mania

it is a 4D mini-game arcade style ride -
you move through the ride
stopping at different screens to shoot/throw virtual items at the screen for points

it is one of the most fun and interactive rides
at any of the parks!

and i can't wait for the day when we can loop it the way we loop the buzz lightyear ride!

while we were at hollywood studios
we used our dining plan to eat at the sci-fi diner

it is set up to be a drive-in theater

your family
and possibly a few hitch hikers in the back
are seated at your table -
which is a car at a drive in.

you then eat while watching cartoons
and old black and white movies.
the boys loved this!
it was definitely different than anything we have ever done
and it will probably be one of the things that they forever remember.

the food was good
the desserts were very good
my ONLY complaint is that it was so dark
that i couldn't see what i was eating very well
and i had a hard time with that.
i think i may have been the only one though ;)

we left with 3 happy campers
who all earned drivers licenses for eating their meals
and being good 'riders' ;)

we closed hollywood studios down 3 of the nights
that we were at disney.

there is something so extra magical about the parks at night
and with so many people watching fantasmic
the streets of the park get nearly empty

this gave us the perfect opportunity for some late night rockin roller coaster

and a few final pictures

before saying a final goodbye to hollywood studios

until next time, sorcerer mickey!
