track and field day

on friday ben and alex had track and field day at school

they each took their turn with different events

don't you love alex's intensity?!

we were so nervous that the day would be rained out
but it ended up being a perfect day for it!
ellie had so much fun
and gave out a lot of cheers and congratulation hugs

alex's class was so excited to win a few rounds of tug-o-war
but ... alex looked at me as if to say 'WHEW ... that was hard work'
the kid is all business.

way to go, boys!!

full swing

it's official
baseball is in full swing
and we are on the baseball field almost every night of the week

HOWEVER ...
thankfully the weather has FINALLY gotten nice
we haven't had snow in what ... 2 weeks?!
AND ...
a coach was INCREDIBLY WONDERFUL to us this year
and picked up drew AND ben
FOR THE SAME TEAM!!!

ben made the majors as a 10 year old
and he and drew are SO excited to be playing on the same team
and i love that!!

alex is playing for the woodchucks
another thing we are excited about since the real woodchucks play in wausau

so far he has only had a scrimmage
but he got to play catcher for an inning

and it seems like they have a pretty good team!!

drew and ben's team has had 2 games

the first game they lost 1-14
but it can only get better from there ... right?!

their second game was last night
drew decided to skip it
so that he could go to the final night of ground zero at eaglebrook
but ben had a great game

he had a few nice hits

he did some nice base running
and made it home twice

he even got to pitch the final inning

 we came from behind
and had bases loaded to tie it up -
but ended up losing 10-13

nice job, moondogs!

a lesson in patience

apparently having THREE bathrooms isn't enough
when you have to walk up an ENTIRE flight of stairs for 2 of the 3

i came across this note that alex wrote to drew

he wrote it
slid it under the door to drew
with a pencil
and asked drew to sign it and send it back

what a lazy bum

on a positive note ...
the standard for first grade writing is conveying meaning
and i think we have achieved that goal

mom's day

first and foremost
i want to say a big HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to my mom!!

i love you SO much.
i want you to know how special you are to me -
today AND every day
and
i want you to know how much i LOVE that my kids have you to call grandma

second ...
a big thanks to my boys (all 4 of them) for making my day extra special

they woke me up with one of my favorite things -
homemade cards

alex surprised us with our mothers day/fathers day combo gift
from school

they helped clean the house
they made me dinner
AND
they shared caribou BOGO drinks with me -
TWICE!

boys -
thanks for making being a mom a fabulous job!
i LOVE waking up every day knowing that each day brings something new
AND
i LOVE knowing that i get to spend them with you
you have made the last 12 years of my life amazing
and
i love you more than you will EVER understand!!

thanks for making my mothers day special

indecisive

in one week
we went from
 THIS:

to
THIS:

make up your mind, minnesota!
and please pick the latter.
thanks.

sing!

we started last week with band and ended it with choir.
this was ben's first year in choir
and they had their concert on thursday night

they did a great job

ben was part of a group of boys that did a dance
that they choreographed all by themselves -
they were quite proud!

we are proud of you too!
nice job, ben!
