just another great morning hairstyle from ben

fluffy slime

a few days ago alex saw a video on you tube on how to make fluffy slime

ever since he has wanted to buy the ingredients and give it a try

FINALLY today we did that ...

we mixed the above with glue and water

and BAM ...

fluffy slime ...

it was super cool

and is actually still going strong a few days later!

back to back champions

ben was also in andover

unfortunately the boys games overlapped

so i wasn't able to see ben's game on saturday

BUT

i was able to see his first game sunday morning

against armstrong

it was a close game that went into OT

and that we ended up winning!!

the boys fueled up on jet's pizza

and were headed to the championship

again their games overlapped

so i sat at alex's game

watching my phone closely

they were down by 5 ...

then ended up tying the game up with 53 seconds left

in the end ...

they won the game with a free throw at .3 seconds left

back to back champions!!

way to go, 8C!

andover 2017 * alex

the boys played in the andover tournament this weekend

alex started with a close game against the st francis A team

earlier in the season they beat us by 16 points (i think)

we played a great game and were ahead for most of it

but they took the lead at the end

and we lost -

but not by much

it was a GREAT game!

the next game was against coon rapids

and we pulled out a win

probably because we had a really great official book keeper

and book keeper's assistant ;)

our final game was against andover

this is another team that beat us by almost 15 points the last time we played them

but we played a great game

and almost took a win!

although we ended up with a 1-2 record for the weekend

they played 3 GREAT games!

PSEO day

i am not even sure how this is possible

but we spent this morning at northwestern college

for PSEO on purpose - 

a morning of learning about PSEO at northwestern

the state of minnesota has a great program

where high school juniors and seniors that are excelling in high school

can take on campus college courses

AT NO CHARGE ... even books are included!

they get dual credit for the classes -

meaning they count towards high school credits and college credits

northwestern is one of the schools that offers PSEO

and drew is very interested in it ... 

so we went down to learn about the details

it was crazy being back on campus

with my own kid as a potential student

some things have really changed

and others haven't

but we had fun looking around

we also had fun when it came time for lunch.

i decided to try something completely different - 

as a vegetarian option they had bbq jackfruit sandwiches

so i thought ... why not?!

the worst that could happen is it would suck

and i'd just eat the fries and then eat later

i couldn't believe it when i got it -

it looked EXACTLY like pork

but it was jackfruit ...

the texture was different than pork

but mentally it was still a little tough 

because i felt like someone was tricking me ;)

still VERY fun to try!

youth night 2017

because we don't already have enough basketball in our lives ...

we spent friday night at BHS youth night

the bengals won

AND a lot of the BYB boys showed up to cheer them on!!

alex * irondale 2017

while ben was in monticello

alex's team was playing in the irondale tournament

his games overlapped with ben's on saturday

my plan was to watch ben's first 2 games

then go to alex's 2 games -

WELL ...

ben ended up in the championship

so i decided to stay and watch and after they won i was glad i did

BUT ...

i did miss alex's team win 2 games back to back on saturday

thankfully they had 2 games on sunday morning

the first game was against a very intense rogers team

i wanted nothing more than to win

mostly because their coach drove me CRAZY

but we lost.

in between games we stalked jack morris

who was there watching his grandson ;)

and then ended with a game against champlin park

it was a SUPER close game

and the boys played REALLY well

but ... came up JUST short of a 3rd place win

still a great weekend for them
