the sidewalk wins again

although i wasn't blogging back in 2002 -
if you've known us for a while
you know that at 18 months old -
drew fell on the sidewalk and chipped his tooth while we were on vacation -

it ended up being broken up into the gum and they had to pull it.
he's spent the past 6 years with an open spot just waiting.

WELL ...
about a year ago the tooth FINALLY started to grow in.
SO NOW ...
fast forward to this past thursday night
we were at baseball for ben
and drew was out riding his scooter around the park.
all of the sudden we look over and drew is walking towards us -
covered in blood.

THANKFULLY the blood was from his nose and not his mouth.
HOWEVER ...
in the SAME EXACT SPOT AS BEFORE
drew is now missing the lower section of his tooth.

we've already seen one dentist -
but because it is his front tooth we are headed in for a 2nd opinion on tuesday.
we'll see.

but as of now -
the official score is resting at
drew - 0
the sidewalk - 2

gotta work

DREW decided he wants an ipod touch
STACEY decided that mowing the lawn is overrated

wanting to be a helpful parent
stacey decided drew could take over most of the job

considering the size of our yard
and
how fast our grass grows

the ipod touch should be his in NO time!

know-it-alls

while driving in the car,
drew and ben were arguing about some dumb, random fact.
often times drew THINKS he is the only one that knows things ;)
so i simply said ...
'drew, you don't know everything!'

out of nowhere alex says ...
'BUT I DO!'

nice.
i'm surrounded.

our all-star kickoff

with our all-star break officially beginning,
we (ben's team) joined 2 other teams
and had a night of scrimmage and BBQ.

the boys LOVED that they got to play on the big kid fields ;)

and it was fun to watch all 3 teams
come together
JUST FOR FUN
to play some ball

and get a little dirty

which ben and AJ have no problem doing ;)

tonight made me REALLY appreciate that there are coaches out there
like ours ;) thanks, jeff ;) since i know you stalk my blog
who want the kids to learn the game
and don't just make it about winning.
it makes it more fun to watch
and it makes it fun to know
that our kids are better players because of it!
so ...

one down

it's officially over!!

alex had his last t-ball game of the season.

and as i look back ...
our team full of dirt diggers has really come quite far.

they still have their moments ...

but for the most part they know where they're supposed to be

and with the help of a few VERY patient coaches -
they have learned the basics of the game!

WAY TO GO ALEX!!
you made it through your first season.

i can't say any other season will be as entertaining as this one was -
but it can only get more exciting!!

i hope you enjoyed your big dipper celebration ...

you deserved it!

SWEETNESS!

while in chicago
(we stayed with stacey's brother's family in lincoln park)
we had the SWEET luxury of having an amazing cupcake shop
RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!

um ... hello ... how dangerous is that!?!

with treats like this ...

and this ...

it's hard to not go back multiple times in one day -
simply to try a new sweet treat each time!

we took the boys a few times while we were there
and let them have the fun of choosing WHATEVER they wanted.

secretly this was just an excuse so that I could do the same ...

several times ;)

we were on vacation, afterall.

we decided our favorites were
the lemon with buttercream,
the creamsicle,
and
the confetti cookie.
BUT also decided ...
we loved them all!

SO ...
i ordered a bag of sweets to-go
and
adopted a new philosophy ...
