state 2013

before we left for florida
we had one final weekend of basketball
ben's team played in the state tournament

he decided that he wanted video of him playing -
so that's where my focus was -
which means i have a whole lot of huddle pictures
BUT
it doesn't change the fact that it was a very exciting weekend!

we lost our first game saturday morning at 8 to roseville
but then came back and won in overtime against champlain park at 10:30
this meant that we played again at 7:30 that night
did i mention we were in cottage grove
and that drew played back up in blaine at 9, 12, and 2??

  

we stopped off to catch the 4:00 service at church

 

and then headed down for our game against farmington.
it ended up being another nail biter



BUT
sam o made an amazing perfectly timed 3 pointer

the boys played their hearts out
and we ended up
winning in QUADRUPLE overtime!

ben was SO tired
that by the time we got home
he just went to sleep in his uniform

smart kid
since we had to be back out the door 9 hours later.

we woke up bright and early on sunday
got completely packed for florida so that we could leave from the tournament
and headed out

the boys went strong all morning

won their first game against eden prairie
re-energized with some cold stone

cheered on andover

 

there truly is a first for everything -
LOVED to see the great sportsmanship!

and finished up our run with a loss to elk river.

we were one game out of playing for 3rd place
so they did FABULOUS!
they played very hard
and were evenly matched with every team they played.
it made for a very exciting weekend!!

yep.
he's mine.

we had SUCH a great season!
our coaches did a fabulous job
and it was such a great group of boys! 

 

way to go 4A bengals!!

 

we've only been done for 2 weeks
and
we already miss it!

keeping 4 kids busy so i can pack 101

my blogging has been put on hold while we have been on our trip
BUT
i wanted to take a minute to say a great big
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
to my most favorite 12 year old ever!!

drew ...
i hope that you had a really fun day today
because you deserve it!

you are a great kid.

you are gentle
you are loving
you are kind

you are a GREAT big brother
and do such a great job with ben and alex

i love how confident you are -
you don't let little things bother you
and
you are always willing to try new things

you love playing xbox
you love music
and
you love to hang out with your friends

you have done SO well with the transition to middle school
and we couldn't be prouder!

we love you SO much
and are SO glad we got to help you celebrate today ...
even though that meant going on tower of terror at 12:12 am ;)

wisdom from ben

when you play 3 basketball games in a day
AND
the last one ends at 9pm in quadruple overtime
AND
you have to be back on the court by 8:20 the next morning
changing out of your uniform seems like a complete waste of time
right??
ben thinks so ...

 

another peek back

another day ...
another trip

today's look back is our 2nd trip
when ben was about 17 months
and drew was about 3 1/2

it was our first trip staying at the beach club
and the trip that got us officially hooked

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

only 4 more days!!!

SNOW DAY!!

those that know our area
know that our school district
NEVER
closes school

so imagine my surprise when drew woke me up
at 6 am this morning
to say that it was a snow day!!

we only had about 8 inches by the time morning came
but it was still coming down pretty hard
and i have a feeling that the roads just couldn't get plowed in time



whatever the case ...
no complaining here!!

stacey got himself out

and the rest of us hunkered down
for a fun day of NOTHING!!

from the time they woke up
until the time they went to bed
they went back and forth
from outside in the snow
to inside to warm up

 

   

 

 

 

  

 

we even got surprised around lunchtime
by a wcco reporter
who took interest in their snow fight
and asked if he could get talk with them
and record them for the news

blake happened to be here when they news came on
and they were SO excited
when they saw themselves on both the 5 AND 6 o'clock news!!

it's not every day that you get a snowday
AND
you get to be on tv!!

the last week countdown

i spent last week loving on a sick alex
and
now this week
i have a lot of busy odds and ends to tie up
to make sure we are ready to go
hopefully i will find time to share a few posts
but for today ...
i am taking you on a trip back to look at alex's first trip to disney
