summer is coming ...

we're able to spend more time outside ...

our busy end of year school schedule

paired with baseball

have us on the go -

A LOT

3 on 3 season is starting

it's perfect weather for popsicles

AND the beach

and we are starting to get REALLY excited!!

track and field 2014

today ben and alex had their track and field day

because of the construction at jefferson

they all got bussed to madison

and from my perspective everything went really smooth

it was probably the coldest track and field day ever -

but we dressed the boys warm

got some liquid warmth for us

and spent the morning cheering the boys on

individual tug of war

bean bag toss - alex missed blue by ONE point :(

1 minute jump rope - ben was just a few shy of 100

race to the finish for the 1/3 mile

ben's favorite event

he got 23 shots made in a minute

as soon as the individual events ended we met back at jefferson for lunch

and then finished the afternoon with some group events

mrs johnson's class won 1 and lost 1 tug of war match

and was the 2nd group to finish for the relay

mr. enerson's class was the 3rd to finish for the relay

but killed it in the tug of war by beating every other class!

ben seems to think he played a big role in that ...

it was a perfect way for them to go out - 

grand champions on their last track n field day ...

ever :(

happy mom's day

yesterday morning i woke up to a wonderful smell ...

the boys had made blueberry muffins for me for mother's day ...

and to top it off ...

they tasted great 

AND

the kitchen wasn't a mess!

they were also very excited

to share some homemade gifts/cards they made me

as they've gotten older

they have come to see

that more than anything

i love cards and notes from them

add in a little olive garden

some bogo's from caribou

and a nightcap at dairy queen

and it was a really fun day!

a perfect day to celebrate how much fun i have being their mom!

a double bug

alex had quite a week last week

he woke up on monday not wanting to go to school

which is pretty strange for him

but because he didn't have a fever

i had him try it out -

i knew i would be there in the afternoon if anything happened

WELL ...

about 2:30 he came to tell me that his throat really hurt

and he just didn't feel good

i decided to have the nurse take his temperature

and it was 103.3 ... 

oops ;)

mom of the year ... again.

we took him in to find out that he had one nasty case of strep

we got him on some medicine

BUT

for 4 days his body just couldn't make up it's mind

one minute it would seem like he was getting better

and we would venture out

and then he'd bounce back with a fever out of nowhere

at one point the thermometer even said this ...

it was at this point that i switched to the oral thermometer ;)

we ended up coming to the conclusion that he not ONLY had strep

but he was also fighting an influenza bug

poor guy

i wouldn't wish him sick ... ever

BUT ...

i did get a LOT of snuggles

AND

i even got my hair styled ;)

hoping now that it's FINALLY gone for good

there are only TWENTY TWO days left of school ...

we have to enjoy them while we can!!

we really ARE that old ...
