youth FUNdraiser

this year our basketball board decided to add a youth fundraiser to our calendar

tonight ben, alex, and i had some fun at brunswick zone

ben and alex got to bowl

play unlimited laser tag

and

play unlimited arcade games

i was busy with the board helping sell tickets

and organize the raffle prizes

the boys spent 4 hours

running the place with their friends

and pausing for just a few seconds to take some pictures with me

once alex's card ran out of time

he went and found john (drew's friend)

who still had lots of time

and was more than willing to share

he even did his best to scrounge up some tokens to use on the prize games

that weren't included

they had a fun night 

AND

our association made just shy of $2000

i'd say that is a VERY successful first run at a youth fundraiser!!

toothless no more

we have been anxiously waiting for alex's teeth to come in

and they are FINALLY on the move

blackout at the barn

for christmas this year

we decided it would be fun to get ben tickets to a gopher game

because we clearly don't have enough basketball in our lives already

after doing a little searching i found that the ohio state game was being called

blackout at the barn night -

and the gophers would be introducing their new all black uniforms

we got the tickets

got ben the official 'blackout at the barn' shirt

and waited ANXIOUSLY for tonight to finally come!!

we ended up really happy with where our seats were

everyone seemed to follow directions really well

and a good majority of the fans showed up in black

including the team

and the students

it was fun to look around and see all black

it ended up being a SUPER fun game to be at

minnesota ended up losing in overtime

BUT

we got bonus basketball ...

AND ...

the double bonus came when we found out that school got cancelled for the next day

because of the low windchill!!

good thing since we didn't get out of there til almost 11pm!

the -30 windchill didn't stop us -

we finished off our night with a mcflurry on the way home

night out with the timberwolves

last month the timberwolves invited our basketball board 

for a night out at the target center

and tonight was our night to visit!

we were given a suite

and got to enjoy an evening of basketball

and socializing ...

thanks for the fun, timberwolves!

andover tourney 2015

this weekend was the andover tournament

although we played it at coon rapids

ben's team started with a game against mounds view

it was a crazy good game -

which we haven't had many of this year

we ended up winning by 1 point

ben even had a very special spectator!

alex's teacher

who used to be ben's teacher

was at the high school and stayed to watch ben play

she even let alex get something from the concession stand

she knows the way to his heart ;)

ben LOVED having her there

and said he could hear her cheering every time he shot

it ended up being another crazy close game -

with us LOSING by one :(

this put us up against irondale -

who we had already lost to earlier in the season

it was our 3rd game of the night

but we actually played really well and held their lead over us

we still lost -

but knowing we stuck with them

and they are a really good team

made losing not so bad

we finished our weekend up sunday morning

with a game against andover

it was another close

and intense game

BUT ...

we pulled out a win

AND ...

ben scored TEN points

which is his personal best

and he was SO excited!

a busy weekend ...

but a fun weekend for these boys

still no hardware ...

but this team is playing a great season and has come a long way

in just a few months!!
