we started our day with a drive up past kapalua
because of all of the rain that maui has gotten over the past week
the run-off creeks/ditches are all very active
creeks that are normally almost non-existent are rapids
and
water that is usually crystal clear is brown and not so inviting
we did a bit of walking -
the boys found some rocks that weren't REALLY rocks
and left their mark
and we stopped off at honolua bay
if you peek back at one of our past trips
you can see what honolua bay USUALLY looks like
it is typically a hot spot for snorkelers or surfers
this year -
the water running into the bay was very brown and murky
creating a not so inviting brown bay
we were told that brown water is where sharks like to hide out
so i'd probably steer clear too
good thing the chickens were still entertaining
although it was a bit cooler than we like
(low 70s)
and ben ACTUALLY wore his stocking cap to dinner
to fit in with the locals
we had a fun day of exploring
AND
the day ended perfectly ...
grandpa jim arrived!
