first and third

this weekend was alex's very first tournament

in traveling basketball

they played at centennial

and started off with a win against mahtomedi

they lost their next game against centennial

but came back and won a very close game against spring lake park

they ended up taking third place!!

great job, 4B

tonight's deep dish adventure

our nights without practices

are few and far between

SO ... 

when we noticed we had one coming up

we set a plan to meet and try giordano's

we have our favorite pequod's in chicago -

but thought we'd try it and see if we can find a deep dish pizza place

somewhere here in the cities

the atmosphere was fun

in the middle of uptown

and because we went early on a weeknight

there was no wait

and we were able to enjoy half priced appetizers while our pizza baked

it wasn't pequod's

and i wouldn't get spinach again

BUT ... 

we LOVED all the cheese

and it was a fun change from little casears ;)

expect the unexpected

last night was going to be an uneventful night

no basketball practices

just dinner and survivor as a family

WELL ...

while we were getting the boys ready for bed

alex said that he had a stuffy nose -

i told him he should try taking some medicine to help him sleep

medicine.

apparently, alex and red medicine don't mix.

within seconds his gag reflex kicked in

and we had red cherry medicine all over TWO white down comforters -

top AND bottom bunk.

i started a load of laundry

thanked God that there wasn't any on the carpet

and got everyone back settled in

joke was on me.

the fun was not over yet.

as i was saying good night to the boys,

for the second time,

chewy started barking like crazy.

we had no idea why.

5 minutes later - 

we found out ;)

water started pouring out of the light fixtures

on our main level

fun.

apparently, something had come loose in the washing machine

AND

there happened to be a crack in the tub under the wash machine

SO

the water drained out of the washer

and right into the ceiling

stacey cut off the power, took down the fixtures, and got a fan going.

i got towels and took pictures ;) 

funny how even the nights that seem like they will be the most uneventful

end up being the ones that hold the most memories -

by now, you'd think i would have just learn to expect that.

electricity is life

alex and i went to the bakken museum

on a field trip today

i love this field trip

because of the hands on experiments with electricity and magnetism

alex tried mindball

which measures your brain waves and rewards the person who is most relaxed

alex lost instantly ;)

i figured it was in the genes

i feel like my brain is constantly going

and if i tried i would lose just as alex did

WELL ... my brain waves showed differently

and I was the CLEAR winner against one of our paras -

not sure if i should be proud or worried ;)

the kids spent time generating electricity and moving it around a town

they learned the story of frankenstein

we spent a little time in my favorite room -

the previous owner was afraid someone would steal him

so every room had to have 7 exits.

the details in every inch of the rooms are incredible!

our group learned about static electricity

we learned about earl bakken

the founder of medtronic

we had a short lunch break

and then spent our last hour learning about magnetism
