ben * coon rapids

ben's team played in coon rapids as well.

thankfully, none of ben's/alex's games overlapped
so we were able to catch all of the games

unfortunately,
just like alex's team
ben's team also lost every game they played

BUT ...
this was their first REAL tournament.
this is a new year for them -
they switched coaches AND half their team.
each game they look a little better.

nice job, ben
AND
thank you eagle brook for having a campus at coon rapids high school
8am game
9am church
10am game
worked very nicely

alex * coon rapids tournament

alex and ben played at coon rapids this weekend

although it was a rough weekend for alex's team
and they lost all 3 games
each of the games was fairly close
and alex played well.

win or lose
he is having a LOT of fun this year.
he loves his coach
he doesn't complain about practices
and he is definitely a better player than he was last year.
that's all i can hope for.

no words needed

today was 'we are silent' day at blaine
some kids associated with we act taped signs to their chest
that said 'we are silent'
which meant they would not be talking for the day
as a way to show their support for kids who are denied education in other countries
and have no voice

WELL ...
drew's math teacher is one of his football coaches and
they have a very fun relationship

while in math class today
there was a student wearing a 'we are silent' sign.

his teacher asked the student if he had an extra -
which he did.

the teacher took the sign
and taped it on drew's chest.

no words needed.

tournament throwdown

ben also had his first tournament this weekend

they played a one day tournament in princeton
and played 3 games almost back to back

we started with a win against st cloud

and ended with 2 pretty tough games
against teams that probably shouldn't have been in the B bracket

we got beat by 30 points against alexandria

and 20 points against becker

the REAL story of the night however was from our first game
ben snuck in for a rebound
which frustrated one of the other players.
he wrapped his arms around ben
lifted him up off the floor
spun him in a complete circle
and then threw him down to the ground

the craziest part ...
no technical foul

my favorite part ...
he gets spun around
and thrown down
but is STILL holding the ball

i love you, ben!
