M.V.P

tonight was FINALLY a nice night
so ben got to have his 2nd baseball game!

he had a good night at the plate
and an AMAZING night out in the field

first ...
he had an unassisted double play

he was playing 2nd base
dove for a pop fly
caught it on the ground
rolled
got back to his feet
ran to first
and beat the player back to his base

THEN ...
he played first base
and got all 3 outs of the inning

he was SO proud of himself!
i wish i would have had a video camera recording the entire game
because i am sure that he would watch it
over and over and over again ;)

AND THEN
as if he wasn't already on a high
the REAL fun came after the game

each game his coach chooses a player that deserves a special baseball with the stingers logo
AND
tonight
HE CHOSE BEN!

at this point i am pretty sure he thinks he might get it ...

and this is where he found out he actually did ...

he was SO excited

way to go, ben!!

it is always fun to watch you play
but tonight was amazing!!

I LOVE YOU!

fly away home

if you follow my 365
you know that several weeks ago my mom got us a kit to grow our own butterflies

we started out with 6 caterpillars

watched as they got nice and fat
read 'the hungry little caterpiller' several times
watched each formed a chrysalis
and then a week later
WE HAD 6 BUTTERFLIES!

aside from the fact that we seemed to get a very sexually active bunch
it was VERY fun to watch the process.
of them growing - NOT mating
the kids LOVED it
and although it was kind of gross,
so did stacey and i ;)

we fed them oranges and sugar water cotton balls
and they were very active
most active around 4 pm it seemed
BUT
they needed more space.
we were really anxious to release them -
but it has been SO cold!!
THANKFULLY it was a week ago that they emerged
and today was 60 and sunny
it was the perfect release day

we took them back by our wetland

the boys each picked a few butterflies

and released them into their new flowery home

just before my phone beeped with a frost warning for tonight.
oops.

fly away little butterflies.
go REAL far.
and with how cold this spring has been ...
i suggest you don't ever come back.

man's best friend

drew is reading 'where the red fern grows' in class
he is loving it
and it has really got him thinking

so last night i went to lay with him
and he was laying with chewy

he said
'mom ... chewy and i were just talking.
the day that he dies is going to be one of the worst days of my life.
he is such a good dog
and i know that just like old dan (the dog in the book)
he would give his life for me.'

season kickoff part 2

last night brought LOTS of excitement

FIRST
we had ben's first game of the season

they have 10 of 13 players that are returning
and it is such a fun group of kids and parents ;)
they are to the age now where they get it
but they aren't pitching ...
so it's fun to watch ;)

tonight brought some fun as catcher ...

some good hits ...

a little bit of first base ...

and OUR FIRST WIN!!
way to go, stingers!!

thankfully all before the REAL excitement hit!

we saw BEAUTIFUL crazy, almost creepy, skies

and watched the news as areas around us got hit -
but we never saw anything more than a few drops of rain

nothing like target field
where the players were seen playing with hail in the dugout

and the security guards shielded themselves with batting helmets ;)
my favorite part of it all

whose idea was this outdoor ballpark again?

the first day that the temps have been perfect for an outside game
and then they get hail
nice.

the REAL fun starts now

last night was alex's very first coach pitch baseball game!

at first he made me a BIT nervous ...

he is the youngest on the team
and i was afraid that maybe we had made the wrong decision putting him in coach pitch ...
BUT
he ended up doing a GREAT job!

he played 3rd base, 1st base, right field, and pitcher

he made a few fun plays ...
one which resulted in an out
and one which should have just for effort ;)

he was 3 for 3 at bat -
2 hits off pitches
and 1 hit using the tee

and he got on base each time

most importantly ...
he had fun with his team

and although they don't know it ...
they won :)

i am excited that he has an entire season of learning ahead of him!

he may be little
but tonight he tried hard and had fun!
he didn't build sandcastles in the infield
he didn't sit down in left field
and he didn't get nailed in the face while playing pitcher ;)
can't ask for much more when you're 4
and it's your very first game!

way to go, alex!

to my mom

although i talked about my exciting day ...
i couldn't let today go without giving love to my mom!

i love you SO much mom
i am SO thankful to have you in my life.
you are SO special to me
and ...
in honor of how incredible you are
i want to post something i found a while back and loved about motherhood

: : :

Somewhere someone has just found out she is going to become a mother.
Somewhere someone has found out she won't.
Somewhere a mother is crying for the loss of a pregnancy.
Somewhere a mother isn't ready to be a mother.
Somewhere a mother is giving birth.
Somewhere a mother is sleep deprived.
Somewhere a mother is staring into the eyes of a newborn.
Somewhere a mother is picking cheerios up off the floor.
Somewhere a mother is making sacrifices.
Somewhere a mother is watching her baby learn to walk.
Somewhere a mother is gently cleaning a booboo and covering it with a band aid.
Somewhere a mother is rocking a sick child.

Somewhere a mother is finding out she has cancer.
Somewhere a mother is dying.
Somewhere a mother is caring for her own mother.
Somewhere a mother is ready to give up.
Somewhere a mother is asking for help.
Somewhere a mother is cleaning the house.
Somewhere a mother is making a meal for her family.
Somewhere a mother has finally found joy in the little things.
Somewhere a mother is teaching her child.
Somewhere a mother is being taught.
Somewhere a mother is feeling proud.
Somewhere a mother is being humiliated in the grocery store by her toddler.
Somewhere a mother is feeling trapped.
Somewhere a mother needs a break.
Somewhere a mother is feeling rejuvenated.
Somewhere a mother has found time for herself.

Somewhere a mother is praying for her children.
Somewhere a mother is praying for herself.
Somewhere a mother is worrying.
Somewhere a mother is doubting herself.
Somewhere a mother is paving the way.
Somewhere a mother is ready to take on the world.
Somewhere a mother is being criticized.
Somewhere a mother is losing her inhibitions.
Somewhere a mother is feeling humbled.
Somewhere a mother is reaching out.
Somewhere a mother is helping another mother.
Somewhere a mother is feeling unappreciated.
Somewhere a mother is crying.
Somewhere a mother needs to be held.
Somewhere a mother is thinking of the future.
Somehwere a mother is wondering how she is going to make it to tomorrow.

Somewhere a mother is attending a graduation.
Somewhere a mother is planning a wedding.
Somewhere a mother is burying her child.
Somewhere a mother is watching her own child become a parent.
Somewhere a mother's long journey is coming to an end.

Motherhood has its ups and downs.
For every mother I've ever observed, learned from, been close to -
here's to the bumpy ride

: : :

and if you made it this far ...
i love you, mom
thank you for all you've done for me
thank you for the love you show me
and thank you for who i am because of you

happy mothers day

i love today

i love this time of year!

i love when the homemade gifts start coming home.
i love the excitement that the boys have and that it just can't be contained
i love that i get my gifts several days early ;)

i love the thought behind it all

and i love that it's something they made ...

JUST FOR ME!!

i also love all of the fun that the actual day of mothers day holds

i got breakfast in bed ...

notice the daredevil juice!
and the toast with butter, peanut butter, cinnamon, sugar and salt ;)
mmmm
.

i got lunch made for me ...

and i had help making some yummy treats to follow it all up!

3 boys
that make my life crazy
but also make it SO much better

THEY are the reason that i love today

i couldn't be happier.

daredevil juice

the last time i was at costco
and alex and i were making our way through the samples
a.k.a. 'lunch'
there was a lady giving samples of naked juice.
she had green, pink, and orange.
i figured the pink was berry so that was my pick
WELL ...
the lady took her job VERY seriously
and she was not going to let me just grab the pretty one and run ;)
she smiled and then told me that i could try a pink one AFTER i tried a green

now ...
typically, as long as there isn't meat involved, i will try anything
but a thick green juice??
really?!
she SWORE that it was the best tasting one
she SWORE that her 4 year old LOVES it
and she SWORE that it is one of the most popular of the naked drinks.
SO ...
i decided to suck it up ...
be brave ...
and know that i had my previously promised berry chaser
and the karmelkorn down the aisle
if it was really THAT bad ;)
i took a drink
swollowed hard
AND LIKED IT!!
it was actually really good!

SO ...
fast forward a week.
i saw it yesterday at target and knew that i had to make it into some kind of challenge
i knew the boys would see it and be SO grossed out
but that they couldn't pass on a dare from me
so i bought it
poured it
and put it in front of them

they said it looked gross
but they were excited that i had dared them
so they went for it
drew and ben downed it
and asked for more!

and alex ...
although at first he didn't want to
he saw that drew and ben did it and liked it
so he decided he wanted to try the 'daredevil juice' too

i now have three boys that love the green machine daredevil juice
even AFTER i told them that it has
blue algae, spinach, broccoli, and parsley!

now THAT is crazy!
