2012 6th grade champions

for the third year in a row
the lions made it to the championship game

this year it was held at blaine high school

and we were playing our greatest rival -

we beat them last year
so they were coming out of the gate extra strong
and i have to admit
i was quite nervous :/

the first half started out pretty even.
they scored
we scored
we scored

we went into half time ahead by 2 touchdowns

the second half brought a beautiful moon

but not a lot of action -
which was a good thing!

we won 20-8

back to back champions!!

and what's great is that we have 2 teams made up of great kids

that will one day all play together as blaine!

lions ...

you have played a great season

you are a great group of guys

and we are SO proud of all of you!

coaches ...
thank you for a great season!
you are the reason that our boys play like the do
and
have such incredible pride in their team!

drew ...
great job this season
you played hard
you had a great attitude
and
you had fun.

i love watching you play
and
can't wait for next year!

touchdown alex!

this morning was alex's last flag football game

it was a little chilly
but the sun helped warm us up
a bit ;)

alex played a great game

he even scored a touchdown!!
i think this is when he heard it was his turn to carry the ball ;)

he got the handoff

and ran with it

for a good 30 yards!

YEAH ALEX!!

you had a great season

and you guys were fun to watch!

it's hard to believe that next year
you will be in full pads!!

and also a little scary ...
but i'm excited!

a weekend 'get away'

this weekend was MEA for our boys

that meant wednesday and thursday
they had the day off
and we spent time
with friends

but then friday
i gave over the reigns to stacey
and i headed down to st paul for the women of faith conference

it was such an encouraging 2 days

once again
my favorite speaker was angie smith

but it was interesting listnening to justin bieber's mom getting interviewed

i enjoyed listening to ken davis
and
pat smith
emmit smith's wife

and i LOVED listening to selah
they both have amazing voices
so for them to sing together
just blows you away!

there is nothing like praise and worship
with 11 thousand women

if you've never been ...
i highly recommend going!

words and pictures do a HORRIBLE job
of describing how unbelievable it really is!

can't wait for next year!

how to dress like a 6th grader

yesterday morning
drew sent out a text to his lions friends
coordinating what their game day attire should be
and
sure enough
when i went to talk to them at the bus stop
this is what i found ...

'suited up'
and
ready to meet the rest of the clan at school

they ended the day with another win!
still undefeated ...
GO LIONS!

twelve years later

as of today
i have been married to my best friend
for TWELVE years!!

~ stacey ~
it's been twelve years since we 'made it official'
and some things may have changed
like the hair on your head and the wrinkles on my face ;)
BUT ...
the fact that
i still LOVE waking up next to you
i still LOVE being in your arms
and
i still get excited about any time that we get to spend together
reminds me that
i am more in love than ever before
and
i LOVE having you along side me on this adventure

i LOVE you mr barnett ;)

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!

p.s.  thanks for the card

and we ended the day at the pumpkin patch

the kids each got to pick a pumpkin

we got to see some peacocks
