so ...
we may have had a VERY busy weekend
and i might have JUST A FEW pictures to share with you ;)

BUT ...
that's what this next week is for -
to slowly take you through the weekend.

we had a fun, candy filled night -
we went trick or treating with our neighbors

and now have 12.4 lbs of candy more than we did earlier today!!!

or at least that is how much we DID HAVE ...
all i can say is
the kids are in bed and SOMEONE has to check to make sure the candy is safe ;)

championship bound

last night was drew's turn for playoffs.



they played the wolverines
AND WON 26-0!!!

even better ....
drew's teacher came to watch the entire game!



sunday morning we will be in the championship game
on the high school field!!!
it might take a crazy night of driving after the wedding
BUT
our plan is to be back!!

GO LIONS!!!

i have no pictures from tonight so ...
picture this.

it's dark
the wind is blowing crazy
you see the light snow in the bright lights
and there are
6 little football players
sitting on the sidelines
wrapped in blankets
with only their helmets sticking out -
shivering
and
watching the rest of their team play an intense game.

tonight was ben's first, and last, playoff game -
we went all season with no losses
and then tonight we lost to the 8th seed.
absolutely no fun.

basically, i think it came down to the fact that
they were much bigger than we were
(5 red stripers to our 1)
and we just couldn't hold them.

OR MAYBE
it's that that it was just plain MISERABLE out
and that our kids just love us more
and didn't want us to have any more nights out in the cold ;)

whatever the reason ...
our bulldogs season is officially over

it was SO much fun while it lasted.
the boys played REALLY well
it was a fun team of kids AND parents
and they had a great winning streak

tough to go out like this
but we did get 1st place for the season

and it's hard to complain about that.

WAY TO GO BULLDOGS!
we're so proud of you!

our very own "hurricane"

for the past 24 hours
we have been getting hit with winds unlike anything i remember.
it is CRAZY!

i mean,
periodically during a storm it gets like this ...
we get 35-40 mph winds and gusts that are 60 mph,
but never do they last for 24 hours STRAIGHT.

for the ENTIRE night, last night -
we listened to the wind howl
watched our windows shake
felt the house swaying
and even watched all of the water in our toilets drop
due to the record low pressure system that is passing through.
it is CRAZY!

apparently the news said that it is the equivalent of a category 3 hurricane.

thankfully ...
we had no damage.

BUT unfortunately ...
right down the street our friends lost 2 1/2 trees.
(is it possible to lose a 1/2 a tree?)

but the entire backyard is full

and as you can just barely see on the far right of the above picture
one limb even went straight into another neighbor's basement -
RIGHT THROUGH THE WALL!

now THAT is crazy!

and the 'playground' the mullens are left with ...
and the kids that have already been excited to use it ...



they're pretty crazy too ;)

halloween prep

it took
a lot of scraping and scooping ...



a lot of cutting ...

and a lot of natural artistic talent ...

but tonight we present our final product.



we're ready for halloween ...

we're full on pumpkin seeds.

going pink

it's official.

everyone is going pink in honor of breast cancer awareness month.

how do i know?

even the online penguins are doing it.



today on club penguin
the town was completely full
with penguins that had turned themselves pink
and were dancing to do their part to find a cure.

now, not quite sure what part online penguins play.
but whatever it is, they were doin' it.

and because i know you are curious
what a pink penguin might look like up close ...

on friday alex got his FIRST paycheck!!



he got to taste some really yummy treats
but we can't tell you what
and then tell us what he thought of them.
in exchange for 10 minutes of his time ...
HE GOT $25!!

as soon as we got in the car
i asked what he thought he might want to do with his money.

'i'm saving for an ipod touch'

m.e.a. f.u.n.

with this weekend being our long weekend for m.e.a.
(teachers convention)
we had an extra 3 days to fill
SO ...
we did our best ;)

we took over chuck e cheese one day



spent the next day at the MOA
as i mentioned below

i did make the kids shop ...
BUT
they also got to spend a lot of time at their favorite store ...
77 kids



go down by the rides for a short time

alex drove a bumper car for his FIRST time
for a while i thought the no reverse thing
was going to make him the one kid that
they had to stop the ride for
but THANK GOD he figured it out
and survived ;)

drew decided to go on the swings ...
and then AFTER riding them
decided they were just WAY too boring ;)



we got all of our stuff tailored for the wedding
they got to pick out their halloween costumes
AND
we got to have lunch with stacey!

a busy day that's hard to top ...
but we went and had a bit of fun today, anyway.

we hit the bowling alley with some friends ...

and NOW ...
the weekend is here.
we can 'rest'
and catch up before our busy 'bekah's wedding week' hits.

i'm thinking maybe the boys will sleep past 7 tomorrow
because i REALLY wore them out

but i doubt it.

hitting their limit, maybe?

just another reason for therapy down the road ...

drew is officially smarter than i am.

he's in 4th grade.

the beginning of the end

tonight was drew's last regular season game
and
THEY WON!!!

that means we have
TWO football teams
BOTH UNDEFEATED
going into the playoffs!!

GO BULLDOGS!

GO LIONS!

a little corny - take 2

you might remember that last year around this time
we took a corny little adventure.
well ...
we had SO much fun and have been anxiously waiting
for a weekend to free up so that we could get a little corny this year too ;)

FINALLY ... today came!

the boys were SO anxious for the corn pit!
so ...
that's the first stop that we made
and we made sure they had more than enough time to try every trick they could think of

we played for QUITE a while,
then cheered on lindsay loham and britney squeals in the pig races,
worked our way through the viking themed corn maze,

stopped for some fun at the hay maze ...

took a few corn cannon shots ...
and ben got a field goal!!

and then hit up MY favorite area ...
THE ROASTED CORN ...
mmmm ;)



drew was mad that he has braces
and that we ACTUALLY had the nerve to eat corn on the cob
in front of him ...
it's tough being 9 1/2 sometimes ;)

we ended the day with ALL OF US back in the corn pit

and i'll end your day with my gift to you ...
