if you would have asked me to tell you about a slough
i would have had no idea what to tell you
WELL ...
one week and one trip to florida later ...
that has changed.
a slough is similar to what we call a nature center -
only more swampy and tropical
so that's why we don't have them up here.
it is a way to see animals and plants in their natural habitat.
in ft myers they have the six mile cypress slough
one morning when we couldn't go to twins practice
because they had a game -
we decided to go explore the slough
it was beautiful

we decided to go explore the slough
it was beautiful
we walked on a 1.3 mile path
that led us past a gator lake,
an otter pond,
a lot of swamp
and through a ton trees
and would only come out if we were quiet
at the same time also trying not to think about the millions of snakes and bugs
that i am sure were surrounding us ;)
the most interesting things we saw were ...
a pile of 6 baby alligators
lots of whirlygig bugs
a pelican
a woodpecker
it wasn't the location where i would want to spend too much time ;)
but it was fun spending the time we did exploring a habitat
much different than what we are used to
