sunday was an exciting day around here!
almost a year ago stacey got back into running.
he started out just running a bit at the metrodome
and
quickly a few miles turned into 5 or 6.
THEN
the weather got nice
and he started running 8 or 9.
we talked about running a half marathon together
and started training
well ...
one wrong turn on one of stacey's runs
turned an 8 mile run into a 14 mile run.
he realized it wasn't so bad
and the next thing we knew
stacey had a bib
and
was ready to run the twin cities marathon!
disguised as a guy named bill
who couldn't complete the training
due to a new baby
stacey was in st. louis all of last week
so i had some time to prepare signs
and then with the help of a few traveling cheerleaders ;)
we finished them up the morning of the race

we finished them up the morning of the race
it was a little bit chilly at race start
as in 28 degrees chilly
but by the time we caught him at mile 9
it was starting to warm up
THANK GOD!
he was looking really strong
and
the boys were SO excited to see him!
the next time we caught up with him was mile 15
it was SO beautiful with the leaves and the sun!
we tried to do our part and make a lot of noise
not usually too difficult for 4 boys
and
we got a lot of cheers for the packer jerseys
the boys jumped in and ran
and i think ben would have loved to have run for a few miles
but we held them to about 50 yards
stacey already had a friend alongside him.
a friend from work - pete - was also running.
he has run several other marathons
so when stacey decided to run
pete chose to run alongside him
and was such an encouragement
he gave stacey tips before the race
helped keep a solid pace
and even took pictures
and recorded stacey with his phone
as he ran into the finish!
