revisiting our 2008 disney trip



 

my sneak reader

it's official
alex finished his first magic treehouse book
in 2 days
and he is in LOVE!



he had a sub yesterday
and he told me that he was 'sneak reading'
after he finished his worksheets
because his book was so good
he didn't want to stop.

we read through the entire list of magic treehouse books last night
and he took book 2 with him today

looks like i know how he'll be keeping busy
on the way to florida!

wants * needs

at church yesterday
alex created a list of things he needs and things he wants

i'm glad that he can distinguish the difference
because
it might be a while before he sees the things found on his 2nd list ;)

keep prayin, little buddy.

needs:  food, clothes, house, water, to pray to God, to love God

wants:  a tv in my room, water on my head, a fish, and a pet bunny

saturday recap

this weekend ben had a one day tournament in delano

it was great that we only had basketball on saturday
BUT
having to be IN DELANO at 7:30
made for a very early morning!

we played andover
AGAIN
nice that we drove an hour to play our biggest rivals
and unfortunately lost in a crazy ... nail biter ... game

we played marshall
and lost in
SUDDEN DEATH DOUBLE OVERTIME

and then FINALLY won
against waconia
we went one point ahead with 22 seconds left
and thankfully held our lead

all close games
and in the last 2 games especially
the boys played with a lot of intensity!

 

 

 

 

it was a lot of fun to watch -
and COMPLETELY wore ben out!

this was our ride home

 

way to go 4A!

AND ...
while we were away ...
stacey and alex stayed to cheer drew on!
unfortunately i have no pictures
BUT
his team won BOTH games
and are STILL undefeated!!

YEAH FALCONS!!!!!

 i have been going back through some of our old pictures and disney blog posts

 that is why i LOVE this sequence of pictures i took at disney. 

 i remember it started with ben laughing 

and trying to give alex a kiss

 i remember hearing a "BEN ... THAT IS SO GROSS!"

the last time he went he was 2
and
he is SO excited!

in honor of it ...
i've decided to post a few 'throwback posts' in the upcoming weeks
be excited ;)

home court

this weekend was our home tournament
for basketball

that meant a few things
1.  everything was very close by
YEA!
2.  it was a great chance to watch some friends' games
and
3.  i got to round out the weekend by putting in some volunteer hours

over the course of the weekend
we watched ELEVEN basketball games
yes ...
i said ELEVEN.
had my hand stamped - 
might as well get the most for my money, right?! ;)

unfortunately ben's team lost all 3 of their games
but they were all very close
and drew's team won both of theirs
to continue their undefeated streak!

as always ...
every one of the games was fun to watch
some were just a little more tense than others ;)

drew played his first REAL game of the season
this saturday



they played another great game 

and beat a coon rapids team

way to go, falcons!!

it's official
we now have all 3 boys in basketball

alex started his program last night
for the 1st graders its more of an on going skills clinic



but he loved it
and i think it's a GREAT place to start

he worked on dribbling

he learned about traveling and double dribbling

and he learned about defense

 

nice job, alex!

citizen alex

today we got to celebrate alex!

he was chosen as the citizen of the month for his class

 

and today was the ceremony
where he received his certificate and his medal

 

my favorite part??
because i am on jury duty this week and next
stacey had cleared his schedule in case i couldn't make it
to the ceremony
WELL ...
although i did have to sit in on a jury selection
i made it to school for the ceremony
and so did stacey!!

third

ben played in the andover tournament this weekend



each of the games was VERY intense
our first game was against andover
the score went back and forth until the last second
when we won!!

 

 

our 2nd game was against anoka
and unfortunately they got the best of us

BUT
we came back in our 3rd game and beat eden prairie
in the last 30 seconds of the game
for a 3rd place finish overall

 

way to go, 4A bengals!
