delano 2014

this past weekend ben's team played a 1 day tournament in delano

unfortunately we had a rough day

and lost all 3 games :(

BUT ... 

we did play 3 very good teams

waconia, delano, and chaska

so if we had to lose ...

and if there is an ok time to do it ...

this was it

it was a long day

but they had fun playing

and

cheering on the B team

we had a fun day filled with fabulous food

AND

about right before their last game

everyone got a little happiness boost

because they found out that 

they'd have the next 2 days off of school!!

perfect timing.

cancelled ... again

this winter has proven to be a record breaking one

not only has it been colder than usual

BUT

that cold has led to school being cancelled FIVE times!!

drew is in 7th grade and until last year he had never had a snow day -

this week we just had our 4th and 5th 'cold days' of THIS MONTH!!

on monday and tuesday the windchills hovered in the -30 to -40 range

thankfully ...

the boys kept busy with 

friends, xbox, sleepovers, and open gym

AND

stacey and i made good use of our january refillable mugs ;)

it's fun to have the boys home

and we've proven nothing will keep us from going to get coffee

BUT

it'd be nice if it got a little warmer from here on out

i'd like for them to be done with school before july 4th ...

maybe?

nomework

the other night when the boys got home from school

and sat down to do their homework

alex asked if we had a gnome

confused by the odd question

i asked 'why?'

to which he responded ...

my paper says 'nomework'

so i thought if we had a gnome

he should do it

super heroes unite!

nothing like a play date with ellie

to add a little fun to our night!!

honorary ball boys

on tuesday night

ben's team got the opportunity to be the honorary ball boys

for the BHS varsity game

they got to be with them as they warmed up

visit the locker room with them

walk out on to the court with them

stand with them for the national anthem

be introduced one at a time

AND

'whoop it up' with them

a very fun night

topped off with chili's chips

RIGHT at the game

chili's chips AND basketball ...

i might just suggest we go to a few more bengal games ;)!

a day off ... for the boys

FINALLY

on monday we had a day off of school

that was NOT because of the cold

AND

it was warm enough that the boys could be outside!

we added 2 extra boys to the mix

and although our house was a little crazy

they had a fun day

and kept very busy

so i can't complain

home court

this weekend we had our home basketball tournament

we started the tournament playing andover

last year they were our biggest rivals

this was our first time to play them this year

we walked away with a win

39-30

AND

ben got a nice surprise

when his teacher showed up to cheer him on

following our andover game

we had a few hours off

so we decided to hit pizza ranch as a team

after seeing the amount of food

and some of the incredibly random (and gross) combinations

that went into some of their bodies

i am amazed that they were ready to play again

BUT ...

they bounced back

and played a great game against elk river

for the first time ever we beat them 

31-24

which put us in the championship game against westside

they were a very good team

and pushed us

but we stuck with them

unfortunately ben ended up on the bottom of a pile up

somehow we got called for a travel on this one instead of a jump ball?!?!

you'd think we were playing football

he took a foot to the head

had to get checked for a concussion

and ended up out for the rest of the game :(

sam had gotten hurt on the play before that

so we were looking like a sad bunch

we ended up losing 27-20

but walked away with 2nd place

and no concussion ;)

way to go 5A!
