6th grade history fun

today i got to go with ben
and the 6th graders
to the mn history center

ben was a little bummed
because drew was going to the MOA
and the 7th graders were going snow tubing
BUT
the place turned out to be not SO bad ;)

we spent a short time in a classroom
talking about being a refugee -
she posed the idea of what would happen if the wisconsin-ites
suddenly took over minnesota
and all minnesotans was forced out.
in true 6th grade fashion -
one of ben's friends said the necessities he'd bring on this walking journey
were his phone, charger, xbox, tv, and gun

the rest of the time was spent
walking around the museum
and exploring the exhibits

the kids favorite room was the tornado room
which was a small room where a tornado was simulated
and radio/tv broadcasts from the fridley tornado were played

i've said it before
and i'll say it again ...
it takes someone very special to work with that many middle schoolers
on a day to day basis ...
today confirmed that

BUT
i loved spending the day with ben

AND ...
days like this are probably good
because they remind me that the crazy that surrounds me
is not really THAT crazy
