you might remember when drew went to safety camp
day 1 and day 2
WELL ...
seeing as though ben is going to be a big 4th grader
this summer it was HIS turn!!
within 2 days he:
* watched the power company fry a hot dog on a line
* went swimming to learn about water safety
* got fitted for and was given a brand new helmet
* met a paraplegic with an amazing art talent -
he draws with his mouth.
* the kids were given puzzles to put together with oven mitts on
to challenge them into thinking about what life is like for people with a brain injury
* they got to see a magician
* they learned about the different behaviors of dogs
so you know if they're being shy, ready to attack, etc
and how to be safe around them
AND
his favorite part ...
the dance party under the fire hose

we also got to join him for the K9 presentation
which was crazy ...
he hadn't even finished the first day
and
he asked if he could go back next year.
it's such a GREAT program
and
i can't wait until it's alex's turn!!
