while stacey spent the morning golfing at kapalua

the boys and i decided to try something new

we attempted to make our own leis

we each had to count out number of orchids -

alex and ben did 40

drew and i did 60

then we were each given a large needle

we had to string 5 flowers on to the needle

and then pull the 5 together down onto the string

while doing this we learned that hawaii can't produce enough orchids

for the number of leis they need

so they order them from thailand

the place that they order them from charges 10 cents per flower

it was a really neat experience

and even cooler that we each ended up with a fresh lei
