spring break kick off

spring break is officially here

and since we've already done the warm tropical thing

we're taking advantage of the free time

to just chill and have some fun

we wasted no time jumping right in ...

saturday morning date

when you are married

with 3 kids

AND

your weeks are full

with basketball and school commitments

you take whatever time together you can get

this is my saturday morning date

and this is where we spent our free hour and a half

quiet

coffee in hand

sitting and playing candy crush

no complaints

birthday cake love

this weekend starbucks is celebrating their birthday

as part of the celebration they created a birthday cake frappucino

naturally

we were more than willing to help them celebrate

and we were SO glad we did

the frappucinos were FABULOUS

and the raspberry whipped cream

was the best part!

i even had them put it on my warm coffee the next day

is it too much to ask for this to stick around

and not be JUST a short celebration?!

simply survive

yesterday alex had a bit of a scary moment at school

i was about to leave for the day

when he came down to the office crying

he went right to the nurse

without even stopping to see me

i thought that was strange so i went to check on him - 

she said that she thinks he was choking

he has never choked on anything before, 

so i think the fact that he couldn't breathe that well really scared him

which made him panic even more

by the time one of his friends got someone to come over

it had come loose

but he was pretty shaken up

which is why they brought him to the nurse to make sure he was ok

i gave him a little time

and then walked him back to the lunchroom -

when we got there his friends were so excited to see him.

the first thing they all said was

'alex, we prayed for you!'

my heart melted.

the first thing a group of 3rd graders thought of

was to pray for alex to make sure he was ok!

what a great group of friends!

SO ...

fastforward to today

i look at his assignment notebook -

a little math homework

his usual reading

BUT his biggest assignment?

survive. 

good one, alex.

when stacey is away ...

we go out and play

ACTUALLY ...

we just go out to eat

because we're too lazy to do much else

playin' like the big guys

alex had his first opportunity at a 'traveling tournament' this weekend.

his team had the opportunity to play in the grade state tournament

we lost our first 2 games by quite a bit

it was their first time playing on a 10 foot hoop

first time shooting free throws

and

first time playing on a big court

lots of changes

BUT

lots of fun for them also

in their last game

they stayed close the entire time

we lost

BUT it was a great first tournament experience!

way to go, mammoth!

end of season fun

tonight we got to celebrate the end of the 6B 2015 season

ben had a great season

and was on a team with some great kids

to celebrate each of the kids

and how well they did

his coach gave each of them a personalized certificate

one by one

he read the description of each to the players

and let them guess who he was describing

to fill out the registration.

as someone who has to enter the forms that people fill out

with their chicken scratch ...

i can honestly say ...

this is genius.
