now ... the actual leaving him at school was much easier this year. i knew that he was SO excited about it. and i knew that he had a lot of friends there that would be looking out for him. however, it was also a bit tougher. starting today he will spend more time at school than he will with me. when i think about it i have so many feelings running through my mind. i'm sad because i'll miss him. i'm happy because i know that he is in really good hands. i'm nervous because i don't get to have control :) te he he :) and i'm hopeful. hopeful that everything we have taught him over the past 6 years gets put to good use and that he is a good student and friend.
as we were on our way home after dropping off drew this was pretty sweet. typically drew and ben pair up and alex isn't really included in their "big boy" activities. however, without drew to keep him occupied, ben took a special interest in alex. he was patient and walked with him on the way home. in the car, they rode next to each other and just played. while at home they played with puzzles and had lunch together. ben doesn't start school for another week. i know it's going to be a tough week for him because all of his neighborhood playmates (and his big brother) are at school. but hopefully it proves to be a special week for he and alex.
