the laser family

i've already said that we played quite a bit of basketball while on maui

BUT ...

what i didn't mention was how we all got nicknames 

while there

drew started it.

he told everyone he has a laser shot and doesn't miss.

he became known as 'laser'.

well ... ben and alex played lightning many times

ben won many times

and alex won a few times ... 

even against the big kids!

ben got the name 'little laser'

and alex became 'miniature or mini laser'

as a game of lightning would go on

everyone would be cheering for the different 'lasers'

i usually jumped into the games as well

but never won

THEN ...

on the day that the steels were visiting

it was the busiest day on the court we had all trip

there were at least 20 people playing lightning -

drew got out early in one round

so he decided to go 'to his corner' ;)

i seemed to be on point this game -

i took out a few of the high schoolers' friends

and they were all cheering me on.

i quickly took on the name 'mama laser' 

i made it to the finals

and we went for a little while just the two of us -

but then he eventually got me out.

they were all SO disappointed that i didn't beat their friend

but it was fun while it lasted.

i learned i am clearly WAY out of shape when it comes to playing basketball -

my arms were SO tired ;)

for the rest of the trip

anytime that any of these boys saw me

they would dab and say 'mama laser'

HA!

clearly a basketball superstar ...

in flip flops, no less ;)
